Description

RESTING IN THE GARDEN: PRACTICING COLLECTIVE REST – SUPPORTED BY ARTIST JOSEPH CHARLTON

During the session, Joseph will be sharing his process of making rubbings and prints using graphite or crayon, in collaboration with the different surfaces and materials of the garden. There will be invitations to walk mindfully through the local area, or create more closely with the group and particular sites within the garden.

As well as this gentle printmaking activity, soft materials are available to set up resting spaces, and a library to pick books from. The aim of these monthly resting sessions is to collectively practice what it might look like to de-centre productivity within a working market garden, and to provide respite from the outside world. All materials for the advertised activities will be provided, but do feel free to bring your own equipment that would facilitate restfulness!

Joseph is a 37 year old self taught artist living in Glasgow. His work spans sound, visual poetry, poetry and street art. He will have his service dog with him at the event.

As with all our workshops and events, please get in touch beforehand if you have questions or concerns around accessibility at the garden, by emailing volunteer@thewashhousegarden.co.uk
