Description
Join us for the second event in our workshop series ‘Flowers of Resistance & Ritual’ this summer. Working in collaboration with Remedy Fields, a local regenerative flower grower, the programme aims to make space for creative exploration with flowers of political and cultural significance from around the world.Â
In August, Sophie Mahandru from floristry design space Studio Kumari will guide us through the multitude of ritual uses for the marigold/tagetes/genda flower. Steeped in folklore and spiritual significance, this is a chance to meet a special flower not only in the peak of its growing season here in Scotland, but to learn traditional methods of crafting it into beautiful garlands used for millennia in the Indian subcontinent, and indeed across the world.
